In your darkest hours, when you choose to turn “Wounds to Wings “ it is then you will……SOAR

Life doesn’t always happen like we plan, The physical and emotional agony of unplanned pain can weigh heavily causing the very life of our spirit to feel lost and hopeless. The perfect life you had planned can sometimes be sabotaged by fear, depression and doubt. In your darkest hours are when you will most likely find your passion. What do you believe is possible in your life? “Don’t be afraid to dream, for out of such fragile things come miracles.” Your past does not define your future. Will you choose…to stay wounded or will you choose to SOAR?

African Jewelry Sale to Help Starving Women

Several years ago, I went on a humanitarian trip to Africa to help some beautiful sisters start a sewing business. Although I barely knew how to sew, I did know how to run a business. At first these women were disappointed that I hadn’t brought the latest fashion designs with me from America that they could imitate and create to sell in the streets of Nairobi. But that was never my intent….I sat these beautiful women down and began with belief in themselves. I shared with them my own journey of goal setting and creating a powerful vision that included being the kind of person you need to be, doing what needs to be done in order to have the things I desired. (Be-Do-Have). And then I helped them set up a school uniform business that included sewing and marketing to schools.

The Laws of Success (Napoleon Hill) by Jonathon Kvarfordt

There are laws that govern success in an individuals life. Laws that if we are ignorant about, we are restricted and cannot fly. When we learn the laws that give us the ability to succeed, anyone, anytime can do so as easily as we can now with the power of flight. Napoleon Hill spent 20 years studying the similarities of over 500 ultra successful people in his day. He compiled his findings and put it in book form and called it, “16 lessons on the Laws of Success.” There he covers the laws that govern success and makes it so anyone who has an open mind can discover that which would make him/her successful in their lives. This book was at one time considered too powerful for the common man.

24 hours alone – Getting STILL

Some things just work out perfectly. I had plans on going to my cabin with my best buddy Tiffany Peterson for a weekend reprieve, but at the last minute she had an impression to cancel. (And when I was miffed that she canceled, she reminded me that she was following my advice to honor those spiritual impressions….so I didn’t have much room to complain!)

But seriously….being alone for 24 hours in the mountains? Was this a good idea? (We had a bear at the cabin last fall that kinda scared the $@#$ out of me). I must say it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a VERY long time. I considered it one of the most spiritually centering things I’ve done for myself.

Celebration of Real Beauty Photo Shoot by Amy Walker

Poor self image is not a new problem. We have been hearing about it for years. We talk about the effects of the media on young girls. We talk about the weight of the models in the fashion industry. We do a lot of talking! And yet I still see so many women, both adults and teens that do not feel good in their own skin. Dove soap did an awesome marketing campaign trying to promote real beauty. But when they followed up their campaigns with market research, they did not find positive results. They found that women prefer looking at skinny, beautiful, perfect models. Even though the models made women feel worse about themselves, they felt better about the products.

Relationship Capital with a Card (by Amy Talbot & Ann Webb)

I’ve always considered myself to be a thoughtful person. But, now, looking back, I realize I was just a person with good intentions that rarely followed through on my promptings to reach out to someone else. Now, I send a heartfelt card to someone every day. If I’m talking to someone on the phone and they are having a bad day, I get off the phone, login to SendOutCards and send that person a beautiful card to cheer her up…..So if you’re wanting to improve or build your relationships, feel more gratitude, or do a good turn daily….take a look at this. If you’re interested in sending cards, using this as a business tool (I do) or even as an additional revenue stream, please talk to me and I’ll hook you up.

Aspire – Discovering Your Purpose through the Power of Words- by Kevin Hall

“Aspire -Discovering Your Purpose Through the Power of Words” by Kevin Hall is a unique book taking 11 powerful words and using them as the framework for presenting ideas and concepts around personal development. This book is nothing like a boring vocabulary book, but rather provides a solid intellectual and emotional journey. Kevin introduces many interesting people, including the Arthur, a linguistics professor who touches Kevin’s life in a deep way. All the stories within the book are compelling, motivating and illustrate the power of each word. I love how he gives us a call to action at the end of each chapter by asking us to identify and honor our own “practitioner” of the word, and then to reach out and share the word with them.

Invest in Yourself (this week!)

Sometimes we need a little pick-me-up in our lives…… something to shake us up and remind us that we are POWERFUL! At times that pick-me-up comes in the form of a new favorite song, a good book, or a transformational conversation.

I’m going to suggest that you invest in yourself in the month of July and find a few little things that can produce BIG RESULTS. Do I have something specific in mind? Of course!
