Startup Princess
Here’s another resource for those women entrepreneurs that live in Salt Lake City, Utah …or have enough air miles to fly
This past weekend I attended my first Startup Princess Event called “Touchpoint: The Annual Conference for Women Entrepreneurs”. Now I don’t really consider myself a “start up” business by any means, but I quickly found they had something to offer the veterans as well as the novices.
The 3 featured keynotes consisted of Heather Bailey, Janice Croze and Amy Rees Anderson. The first two (Heather and Janice) are known by thousands of women throughout the world because of the well-read blogs. I’m just going to reference you HERE to Startup Princess’s website where you can read interviews with them and find out more what they do.
I was very impressed with the organization of Startup Princess (“A strange name” declared my husband) along with the expertise and broad-range of topics including Creativity in Life and Business, Networking to Build Relationships and Partnerships & Developing Business Strategies. And like I said, all topics were suited for old-timers like me as well as those in their first year of business.
After an “included lunch” …a nice touch… there was a media panel that consisted of an editor (Wasatch Women), a Radio Show Host & someone that has appeared on various Big Name TV shows (like Good Morning America, Today Show etc). All three women had great ideas for how to get publicity for your business via TV and Print! Very useful information.
Afternoon consisted of breakout sessions that would appeal to any business start up. Over all, the quality was exceptional and the experience well worth my time and money.
If someone asked me what my 3 biggest take-aways from Touchpoint were, I was list the following:
1) An opportunity to network with over 100+ women that I had never met before. Of course this is crucial to any business….getting out the door and into the faces of new people who can inspire you or create value for you through products & services they represent. And last by not least….. meeting women who are eager to be added to YOUR database because of the good value you will create for them.
I have no doubt that I will be rubbing shoulders with at least a dozen of those women in the near future. For starters I’m going to be attending the Salt Lake Chapter networking events where I anticipate I’ll get to know a dozen women who I haven’t had the privilidege of meeting. I also found several women that are interested in coming to my next workshop in a couple of weeks!
2) I was inspired by many women who use Twitter as a means of connecting with other women entrepreneurs and the specifics of how to do it. One of the funny quotes of the day was : “Not being on Twitter is like social media suicide”. So I learned a few things about Twitter that made me stop rolling my eyes and pay more attention to this new tool. (I have since added 200 people to my Twitter following as well as Tweet 50 new things….just since Friday!)
3) Inspiration was HUGE at this event. Tony Litster was one of my favorite speakers. He was full of not only great ideas, but an energy that made me feel like I could do anything. Karmel Larsen (Mrs Utah) was also at the top of the list with her words of wisdom regarding Discovering and Living your Purpose in Business and in Life!
Startup Princess continues to host many other events and they have another one coming up in
November called “The Image & Media Academy) It looks very interesting! Their blog and website if VERY informative, and they have monthly chapter meetings that I’m sure are well worth looking into! (I know I am)

I saw the article in Wasatch Women this month about the Startup Princess. I loved it! What a great idea. I am finally starting to understand the big hype about Twitter, and what a great tool it is. Maybe I’ll have to sign up pretty soon…
Yes, Kelly was on the cover of Wasatch Women just last issue. She’s a great inspiration to women entrepreneurs and I think I”ll have to put it in my LifeVision that I want to be on the cover also
