Ropes Course
How many of you have ever participated in a Ropes Course?
A Ropes Course is typically an all-day activity that teaches skills through experiences. The basic goal of the course is to increase the participant’s level of self-confidence as they explore risk, leadership, communication, problem solving & coaching. As a person deals with the success, failures, & disappointments…..self-esteem and personal growth begin to develop.
The second primary goal is to help the participants learn to function meaningfully and productively as a team. Speed and individual excellence is not the goal. Success is determined not by how well the individual or team performs, but rather by the extent to which they are willing to try something new and work together to accomplish it.
I had a great time going to a Ropes Course over the weekend as part of my 90-day coaching program with Outlook Training. We participated in both regular and high-element activities. The activities that primarily focused on teamwork allowed me to look inward to examine my leadership style & abilities. I personally learned that when “my voice” is stifled, I’m quicker to disengage. I’m great at following if there is lots of LOGIC involved, but if it’s more of a heart matter, that’s where my leadership abilities shine.
Every participant was able to learn about their habits & unique styles through these experiences. Of course the HIGH activities require harnesses and belay ropes for safety but were amazing for shifting my perception on risk & personal confidence. The Perch was where I had to face my fear, then get out of my head to simply follow my passion.
If you ever get the opportunity at participating in a Ropes Course, take it! If you have experienced ROPES….what was your favorite part and what did you learn? You might also be interested in...

Ann – you are always finding ways to grow and expand your comfort zone. That is what makes you a great teacher and coach!
I personally believe in taking risks as one of the key principles for success. In chapter 2 of my book – Leaving Your Comfort Zone – I share my personal story of stepping into “fear” and taking risks to grow, and how each time, I learned something new about me, I evolved, grew and stepped more into what I call my “Power Zone”. Each time I could find my voice and value, I inspired greater changes in my life.
Taking risks is an essential life skill! Thank you for sharing your experience. Love the head and passion point!! So true!
I want to hear more about your experience- sounds scary! Way to step out of your comfort zone! I don’t do a lot of that anymore…
