Bad Things can Happen If you Don’t Slow Down!
Life is busy. Any given day most of us have a long list of things to do, calls to make, emails to send, projects to address, meetings to attend, and families to care for before the end of the day or by the end of week.
Most of us are capable of doing many things at once and even doing them very quickly but our “ability” is rarely questioned, it is at times however our “sensibility” that can become questionable at one time or another when rushing from task to task day by day week by week in our busy demanding personal and business lives.
Think for a moment about your workload in the last week…the last 30 days, have you taken on more that humanly possible? Have you said yes when you should have said no? Have you over extended yourself? Are you feeling overwhelmed and overworked? Does the next week or the next 30 days look more like the schedule of an entire team of people?
Bad things can happen if you don’t slow down. When an airplane experiences turbulence there is a sudden change in air movement that causes the plane to shift and roll or drop.
A novice would think that increasing the speed of the plane would be a good strategy because it would get them through the turbulent air faster, but that would be the wrong thing to do, there is an optimum speed that will minimize the negative effects of turbulence to the plane and its passengers…that is to reduce the speed, to slow down to lessen the adverse affects.
This can be said for our personal and business lives as well. If you keep going at the fast paced speed you are without stopping bad things can happen. If you keep pushing and going and don’t know how or when to slow down you could go right off the cliff of exhaustion, your health will diminish; your relationships will suffer, your business will not move forward if you are not focused or working at your peak.
Do yourself a favor, slow down take care of you. Give yourself a “do over” before your life “takes over.” Take some time to prioritize what is most essential in your life; what deserves your full and present attention. What can you delegate, what can you say no to? What can you cross off your list?
Sometimes less is more and slowing down will get you through the turbulence or at least give you warning that the cliff is just ahead.

Love this post Ann! This is huge problem in the world today. The pace is so intense out there that we can easily burn out. I have a whole practice full of people who have lost the inward sensitivity to how their bodies are functioning and have let outside pressures from society, family, business drive their lives. Let me tell you, biology usually ends up winning. The system will revolt at some point with injury, illness. This has been on my mind a lot and I’ll be posting on my blog about this later this week. Also look for a video facebook post with my analogy of the battle ship. Love what you are doing for people. Keep it up! DON’T GIVE UP!
Thanks Jerry. Of course you can relate to this. Everybody…SLOW DOWN (I’m shouting at myself!)
