Annual Review of your Ideal LifeVision

This is the time of year when I typically reflect on the past year to see the progress made from where I was (at the beginning of the year) to where I currently am. Normally, I do have an overall “sense” about the year…ranking it somewhere between “AMAZING” and “adequate”. But there’s a lot more to the annual review than reducing it to a simple adjective. A more in-depth review of what got done, what didn’t, and why ??  are 3 things to consider when getting ready to set your intentions and goals for the upcoming year (and LifeVision).

Taking the time to pause, reflect & celebrate are a natural part of this season….so apply the reflective attitude to your LifeVision process as well.

Just this morning, I went over the 9 versions of my 2009 LifeVision. (No, I’m not kidding!) No doubt a few disappointments among the literally hundreds of things I “intended” to happen in 2009. But they didn’t faze me at all because of the list of accomplishments that outweighed the goals “whose time has not yet come”.

Below I’ve listed my top 10 LifeVision accomplishments of 2009. And if you created, recorded and Lived your Vision in 2009, I highly recommend you do the same. Not everything showed up exactly the way I envisioned it just under a year ago. But that’s the beauty of it….Life is unpredictable!!

Top 10 LifeVision Success (in no particular order)

1. Getting up at 5:30 am & doing a “Power Hour”

LifeVision Statement: “I can’t wait to jump from bed each morning at 5:15 am”.

Real Life Success: A few mornings I really couldn’t wait (probably because I had to go to the bathroom), but most mornings I jumped out of bed somewhere around 5:30 am (making note to self to make that adjustment in 2010 to 5:30) because I found it to be the best time of day to get my Power Hour in. I’m not going to share my Power Hour paragraph because it’s too personal….but the reality of Power Hour in my life was a huge blessing both mentally & spiritually in my life!

2. Service to the less fortunate

LifeVision Statement: “I love giving service to others. Daily, I share something of myself. I find many opportunities of creating value for others. I find a way to be in-spirit…. I find little things I can do to lighten others burdens. I am very open to opportunities of serving others. Once a week on Tuesdays, I spend the afternoon working with my refugees. I teach them things. I mentor them. I offer practical service to assist them in integrating into this country”

Real Life Success: Most of my spontaneous service in 2009 came in the form of helping the Wah family…Pearly Wa in particular. If you live in Salt Lake City, you may remember a year ago the kidnapping and murder of a 7 year old Burma refugee named Hser Ner Moo. This is the family that I have been mentoring over the past 2 years. How I miss them, as they have moved to Iowa to escape the grief that will never fully leave them. (Full section on their plight in the Salt lake Tribune, Dec 13) Life got very busy for me in 2009 and it would have been easy to forget my refugee family….but that daily reminder through my LifeVision that “I serve and mentor this family”, kept me coming back week after week until I shipped their last box to Iowa. Now I continue my mentoring via the phone and will be looking for another refugee family soon.

3. New Friends

LifeVision Statement: “I have a picture in my mind of meeting the people who I’d like to have a soul friendship with. I act upon this inner picture of attracting ideal people into my life by practicing being the kind of person I wish to attract. I have friendships in abundance.”

Real Life Success: Wow…did this one ever come to fruition. In 2008, I could probably count my friends on one hand. But 2009 brought hundreds of people into my life, most of whom I call “friend”. The deep friendships I was craving are also a reality and keep me constantly smiling! :D

4. Journaling & Writing

LifeVision Statement: “Every morning, I journal for 10 minutes. Through writing daily, I bring everything I want to ponder, change, develop, prepare for and accomplish into the Privileged Place where I can do something about it. This is a very effective self-accountability tool, making me consciously aware of and responsible for every aspect of my life.”

Real Life Success: Not only have I been much more consistent in my journaling, but I recently learned a new journaling/writing technique that has helped me “CLEAR” a lot of crap & negative emotions out of my head & heart.  If you mentor with Kirk Duncan….you probably know what I’m talking about. A year ago I didn’t know what I was asking for, but by listened to that statement daily….I attracted a new tool that is changing my life!

5. Financial Coach

LifeVision Statement:Financially, I’m on top of it. Being financially free is a tremendous blessing. In 2009, I hire an financial advisor to assist me in getting organized. I have made our retirement and savings automatic. Each month, $$$$ is automatically taken from our checking account and placed into our XYZ investment account.”

Real Life Success: Check! I hired Nate Guggia & Greg Blackbourn of The Accredited Network to help me with this matter and the benefits I received were above what I asked for in my LifeVision.

6. Public Speaking

LifeVision Statement:At least once a month I am asked to speak. I have 3 keynote addresses that I am comfortable giving. I have designed these addresses to be motivational, educational, and slightly humorous. I give an incredible presentation with high confidence and assurance. I know my stuff and can wing it when called upon. Many keynotes I give free and many are for a fee. My topic are: The Power of a LifeVision, Let your Life Speak, and Achieving the Balance.”

Real Life Success: I just counted 14 times that I spoke in 2009, not including my monthly workshops. Some of them were radio interviews, others were presentations for network marketing companies, others were in my business suit in front of LOTS of people (thankfully they smiled at me so I didn’t faint). My topics were completely different than the ones I wrote in my Lifevision….oh well. I was even called out of the audience to speak a time or two.

Ok….this is getting long so I’ll shorten it:

7.  Professional Website Yes…mission accomplished (that was a BIG goal for 2009!)

8.  Hired coaches Check: Greg Blackbourn, Rhonda Hess, & Kirk Duncan along with Rene Johnson, Jamie Utley & others

9.   Joint Ventures Too many to name, but yes it happened. But the most amazing results came when I named them specifically in my Lifevision. Funny how I didn’t even know Leslie Householder & Garrett Gunderson when I mentioned them in my LifeVision. Let me just say WOW……(it works!!)

10. Blogging 2 X a week. For the most part. I now have 44 posts on my blog because I listened to my LifeVision.

Don’t neglect this part of your LifeVision process.  Beyond the fulfillment in recognizing that you are a goal setter and accomplisher, there is power in acknowledging your clear intention and the journey it takes to fruition.  All you LifeVisioners out there….let’s hear a success or two you had in 2009!!!
